    Includes unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

    The funds collected from sales of this compilation will be used to purchase food and supplies to stock Denver's free community refrigerators.

    This release consists of just over an hour of music;
    16 tracks spanning the genres of punk, hardcore, free-jazz, noise, indie pop, ambient, drone, dark-wave, post-punk, experimental, alt. rock, grunge, pop, electronic, minimal, and hip-hop.

    While our future releases will feature artists from various locations, this first compilation exclusively features contributors who currently reside in and around Denver, CO. This idea came from a dually sentimental and manic episode several months into 2020's shutdown in response to the CoVid-19 Pandemic, when fantasizing about imaginary Local DIY Music Festival line-ups was an exciting way to spend some time. The result was the collection of artists on this tape, which inarguably would make for a pretty stacked and very eclectic bill. It is a privilege to get to release this collection of relatively new and mostly exclusive material from:
    FAIM, Many Blessings, Tollund Men, Midwife, American Culture, Natural Violence, Bloodloss, Law of the Night, Hoverkraft, Ben Don, Living Gate, Cop Circles, No-emoji, Kahlil Cezanne, Pure Weed and Dry Ice !
    ... more

about

This compilation is the debut release from "Plague Survivor Records", a non-profit collective/imprint/“label” designated to releasing music and presenting art that we feel connects with people on a substantial level. Beyond releasing music our larger mission is to use our collective creative output as a means to educate our communities, spread awareness/draw public focus to causes in need of attention, and by committing to donate any funds raised by selling digitally/physically released music/artwork, merchandise, access to events/productions to those in need of financial support/assistance.

The last year, meaning from the early Spring of 2020/to the late Winter of 2021 has been a difficult one and in some ways uniquely affected musicians due to the clear threat live events would present as an opportunity for Viral infections to spread and due to the lack of appealing alternatives to the live concert.
While many of us have struggled financially from the lack of income previously generated by performing concerts, there has also been a profound emotional and psychological toll due to the indefinite suspension of our established expressive/social/creative outlets.
Coping with the confusion, struggles and losses of the past year and the isolation, has emphasized the value of working with the people in our community to improve living conditions for everyone. As local artists we should have a compassionate relationship with our local community, and with the larger network of creative communities across the globe as they are necessary resources to us as audiences, collaborators, spaces etc...
While SO many groups would have been deserving recipients of the funds from this benefit, If you live in Denver, it is hard to argue that another population has been so visibly in need of support and yet continuously met with neglect and hostility as the city's houseless residents.
Unfortunately (albeit unsurprisingly), the State is quicker to engage with this portion of the population with violence than with assistance and there is apparently even less help from the federal government. Clearly we cannot rely on any government or institution to care for us or for our community as a whole. We as artists are not an especially wealthy group, but there is no contribution too small to be of help and we are skilled in communication, presentation, and promotion. We can use our skills as well as our art itself as resources and extend some generosity to those in need because it is our belief that a society is only as rich as its poorest citizen, as safe as its most exposed, as healthy as its most ill and as free as its most oppressed.

Thank you to everyone who has and who will in the future collaborate directly with us or adjacently to us in this effort to take care of one another, and prioritizing helping those who need our care most, first. While so many of us have had the good fortune to survive this recent viral plague, the much deadlier, much more resilient plague remains rampant and grows stronger. This plague is comprised of the oppression, injustices, entitlement, greed, ignorance, and apathy that both fuel and are fueled by the sociopathic capitalist power structure that allows a few corporate oligarchs to own the corrupt institutions they use to maintain their grip over our civilization. While many are preoccupied with literal survival the more fortunate of us, who were born into circumstances of relative privilege, try desperately to hold onto a lifestyle that we cant afford and do not need, but has been subliminally pushed on us as the key to our happiness/success /acceptance since we first developed the ability to process information.

Only by working together, starting from a grass roots level , with an endlessly replenishing reserve of patience, compassion and tolerance will we be able to survive and overcome THAT plague.
